I’m originally from Surrey, England but have spent the last eight years living between Australia and the UK. Now, finally, I've been granted permanent residency to Australia under a Distinguished Talent visa.

Short fiction is a great love of mine and up until a few years ago I’d avoided longer works, focusing on writing very short and short stories and plays for the stage and radio. As someone who has only been writing for a few years, I knew I had to focus on short fiction in order to hone my skills more quickly.

My work has been broadcast on national radio; performed at Melbourne’s Arts Centre; featured in The Daily Telegraph UK; The Sleepers Almanac (Aus/NZ); Torpedo Literary Journal, and I've had repeated success in The Bridport Prize – the world’s largest open writing competition.

I've now completed my first novel, Rocks in the Belly, which has been picked up in Australia and New Zealand by Scribe, and internationally by A P Watt Literary Agents. Rocks in the Belly will come out in Australia and New Zealand in September 2010.

I'm also working on another novel, The Prophet of Loss which took me on a eighteen month research journey into Islam and Morocco. And I'm researching a third novel now, Winter Solstice, for which I'm exploring blindness.

You’ll find some excerpts of Rocks in the Belly and The Prophet of Loss on this website. Comments welcomed.
